You can permanently delete your prospiq account at any time. Account deletion is real — not "we'll hide it from you and keep your data" — and it cascades through everything we hold about you.
What account deletion removes
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our active systems:
- Your user profile (name, email, password hash, OAuth identities)
- Your search history
- Your saved lists and the contacts in them
- Your bulk upload history and the results
- Your team membership (if you were on a team account)
- Your API keys
- Your billing email and stored payment method (the payment processor's record is governed separately — see below)
What account deletion does not remove
A few categories of data persist after account deletion, for specific reasons:
Aggregate, anonymized enrichment data
prospiq runs a shared verification cache that improves results for everyone. If you previously enriched a contact, the verified result (the email, the domain, the verification status) may remain in our enrichment cache — but it is not tied to you, your account, or your history once your account is deleted. We can't reverse the cache to identify who looked up what.
Invoices and financial records
We're legally required to retain invoices, payment records, and tax-relevant data for the period your jurisdiction specifies — typically seven years in India under GST law. These records are retained in a separate financial archive that does not surface in product systems.
Audit logs
Security-relevant events (sign-ins, password resets, role changes on team accounts) are retained for a short period after deletion for security review purposes, then permanently purged.
Payment processor data
Your payment method — credit card details, billing address — is stored by our payment processor, not by prospiq. We don't see or store full card numbers. To delete data held by the payment processor, follow their account deletion process separately.
How to delete your account
Account deletion is a one-click action with a confirmation step. The confirmation isn't there to talk you out of it — it's there because deletion is irreversible.
Once you confirm, the deletion completes immediately. You'll be signed out and the data described above will be removed. There's no waiting period and no "undo" window.
What deletion does to team members
If you're on a team account:
- If you're a team member (writer / editor / admin): deleting your account removes you from the team. Other team members are unaffected. Your authored content (drafts, articles, lists) remains on the team account unless the team owner deletes it separately.
- If you're the team owner: the team owner role can't be deleted while the team still has members. You need to either transfer ownership or remove all team members first.
What deletion does to your subscription
If you have an active paid subscription when you delete:
- Your subscription is cancelled
- Your remaining credits for the current cycle are forfeited (since the account holding them is gone)
- No refund is issued automatically — if you want a pro-rated refund for the unused portion, request it before deleting
We recommend requesting any refund first, then deleting the account once the refund is processed.
Re-creating an account later
If you delete your account and later want to come back, you can sign up again with the same email address. The new account is a fresh account — none of your previous lists, history, or saved contacts are restored. We can't recover deleted data even with your permission.
