Removing a team member

How to remove someone from your team, what happens to their data, and what happens to yours.

Last updated May 11, 2026

When someone leaves your team — because they quit, switched roles, or you no longer need them on prospiq — you can remove them in two clicks. The mechanics are simple. The implications for shared data are worth understanding in advance.

How to remove a member

From the Members page:

  1. Find the member's row in the Members list
  2. Click the trash icon on the right side of their row
  3. Confirm the removal

The removal is immediate. The member loses access to prospiq through your team the moment you confirm.

Who can remove members

  • Super Admins can remove anyone on the team — Members and Admins
  • Admins can remove Members, but cannot remove other Admins or the Super Admin
  • Members cannot remove anyone

The Super Admin can't be removed at all. The Super Admin is anchored to the account that pays for the team subscription. To remove the Super Admin, you'd need to either delete the team entirely or transfer ownership first — see Inviting team members for the team-ownership note.

What happens to the removed member's access

The moment you remove them:

  • They lose access to your team's shared credit pool
  • They lose access to any shared saved lists
  • They can no longer push contacts to CRM connections you set up at the team level
  • Any active sessions they have in prospiq are invalidated — they'll be signed out
  • They can't accept any pending team invites that haven't been completed yet

If they had personal prospiq usage from before joining your team — their own personal account, their own free credits, their own personal saved lists — that all stays with them. Removal ends their connection to your team, not their relationship with prospiq.

What stays with the team

Data the removed member contributed while they were on the team stays with the team:

  • Contacts they enriched that were saved into shared lists remain in those shared lists. The team paid for the lookups; the data belongs to the team.
  • CRM pushes they made are permanent — those contacts are now in your HubSpot, Salesforce, or Zoho regardless of who pushed them
  • Bulk uploads they ran stay in the team's history and remain exportable
  • Credit usage history stays in the team's audit log — the Super Admin can still see what was spent and when, even after the member is gone

What goes with the removed member

A removed member keeps:

  • Their personal account (if they continue using prospiq individually)
  • Their own private search history that was stored under their personal account
  • Their own private saved lists
  • Their own API keys (if any) — though those API keys lose access to team credits, so they're only useful for personal accounts

If they want to formally close everything down, they can delete their personal account — see Deleting your account.

Removing someone you've shared sensitive data with

A few practical things to do alongside the removal:

Rotate CRM credentials if needed

prospiq's CRM connections use OAuth tokens scoped to the team account, not to individual members. Removing a member doesn't expose any CRM credentials, because the member never had direct access to them. No rotation needed on your side.

Review what they had access to

If the removed member had Admin role, they could have invited other members or changed credit limits during their time. Worth a quick look at the Members list to confirm everyone there should still be there, and that credit limits haven't drifted from what you'd expect.

If there's a security concern

If you're removing someone because of a suspected security issue — leaked credentials, compromised account, anything more serious than a routine departure — email security@prospiq.net with details. We can review session activity and help investigate.

Re-inviting a removed member

If you remove someone and later want them back, you can send them a fresh invite. The new invite is treated like any other — they'll need to accept it via the email link, and once they do, they appear in your Members list again. They don't automatically recover any prior settings or data; you'd need to set their role and credit limit again.

What happens when the seat opens up

When you remove a member, that seat becomes available immediately. You can invite a replacement right away. The Seats tile on the Members page updates to reflect the change in real time.
